Imagine a small apartment with 3 or 4 families living in it. Each family with their own room, with the other living spaces shared, a toilet room, a wash room, a two stove burner and little living room. A living room with maybe a table or a well worn couch, with perhaps a poster hung on the wall or a silk flower to decorate the empty space.
This is the life of a Burmese refugee that has come to Malaysia. They work, live and wait, wait for news from their families, wait for news on their ‘third Country,’ (U.S.A.) wait to start their future. They wait years to get accepted to be apart of the 10,000 refugees from their Country, received in the States each year. They hold on to their hope, a promise for a better future and the loved ones that have near them.
Many are or want to be Doctors, Pastors, or Teachers. However many will not see a white board, office or heart monitor, rather only dishes, cleaners and wheelbarrows in their new Country. Many graduates from Bible College, and students of the Word will not get to minister, teach or Pastor churches. All knowing they can not serve where they most desire, in the Country of their youth, in the land that they love.
Freedom, independence and safety their hearts long for. We can simply offer them English.
80,000 plus Burmese people have fled their Country and come to Malaysia.
See the joy of the Lord. They will rise up on wings like eagles. They will walk and not faint. They seek the Lord and see His face.
Meet Haupi, a Pastor, student of the Word, English teacher, worshipper… our friend.
