New
Encounters of the Holy Spirit!
The other night at debrief (in
Lilongwe, Malawi), I was talkin’ to God and I said, “God, all the things
that you call me, all the things that you say I am, all the things that I don’t
know about myself, I want to see them manifested and become this man
now….” Again, God kept reminding me of His faithfulness and goodness and
how He LOVES to give good gifts to His children. He kept saying over me, “I am faithful. I will NEVER fail you. I
will NEVER love you less. I am faithful and my promises are true. I am
faithful….� Well, I spent a large amount of time in prayer and we talked
about some other stuff and whatnot and well, last night during worship was
CRAZY!
It was an amazing night of
breakthrough for our squad and the Holy Spirit SHOWED UP!!! Michael Hindes and
Sean (World Race director and staff) and our squad coaches (Chuck and Selena
Day) laid hands on us to release the Holy Spirit and for us to have an
encounter with the Holy Spirit. I said to God, “God, I don’t know what the
heck is about to happen but I want it!!!� Yeah, I was a bit scared but didn’t
care! “God, I receive it and I thank you for what you are about to do!”
Well, Hindes got to me and laid his hand on my head and prayed. I couldn’t
really hear him but I didn’t care. I was talking to my Daddy, and he put his
hand on my stomach and spoke some simple words of truth over me. They were
simple and just a few but oh buddy…. God spoke over me and came over me and I
couldn’t do anything but laugh as tears began to flow from my face like all get
out. I hadn’t experienced anything like that since training camp…. As we know, when the Holy Spirit shows up,
crazy, unexpected and unusual things happen! Well, as I postured myself
before the Lord, He began to tell me that I AM all of the things that I was
talking to Him about the night before. I AM a man of honor and integrity and I
am a man with His heart, I am a good friend, a great husband, father, etc
already, and that I am ‘becoming’ and that it all flows from HIM, etc etc
etc…. He also answered me on some specific things that were just CRAZY!!! I
was expecting for Him to answer me in all of that and for Him to make me into
that man but not that soon! haha He spoke specifically to my heart and let me
tell you, BLEW ME UP!!!!
I have always ‘believed’ that I am
what God says that I am but it never really has came over me like it did that
night. It’s starting to internalize and
be a part of who I am, and I do not just simply believe it alone. I am
learning so much about myself and God is holding me up in it with His hands in
faithfulness and saying that there is nothing that I need to DO but simply LET
HIM do this in me and it will be so.
Speak out what you see in each other. Speak out what God says and shows
you about each other, even if you don’t see it in them at the moment. Speak
over yourself, speak over each other who we ARE in Jesus and claim it as YOURS, because after all,
He LOVES enough to tell us who we are ALL THE TIME…. Thing is, are we willing
to accept it, believe it and internalize it to the point of walking in the
truth of it each and every day? Are you willing to receive and encounter the
Holy Spirit in new ways and open up to finding out absolutely who you ARE in
Christ?
This is not something for us to take lightly…. Who you ARE in Jesus is waiting on you to encounter it and experience
it!!!!
