That was my best try at LeVar Burton and Reading Rainbow….

What was said there at the end of the video can be taken to extremes of course…. I am a definite advocate of working hard and getting things done, you all know that. …We can say that if we are a relational community and invest more time in our families and friends that we can’t provide for them as well as we want because we don’t get as much work done or work as hard OR we could say that we will work our tails off and provide, achieving what we want in our work places and making tons of money/status, thus leaving what is most important behind, whether we realize it or not…. I know that I have been guilty of this and you probably are as well. Now, I am not asking or telling you not to work as hard or anything of the like because we are to give our best and honor Christ in it. That is  of the utmost importance. But what about balance? Are we to jump on one side of the scale and expect it to balance itself out? No! It doesn’t work that way…. I ask you, change it up… work hard… do something that you aren’t used to… get uncomfortable… use good judgement with who and what you are dealing with and even get off your kiester when you are exhausted and pour into your wives, pour into your children, pour into your friends and HAVE FUN by all means! Do something to bring you back to your youth! Go out and play golf more, do something fun, stay up late, go watch a movie, dp something that scares you, have coffee, take a walk, picnic, play catch …let them know/remind them what it is that makes you ‘tick’. Revive things a bit! Dive into their lives and make it a real relationship/friendship, even if you don’t necessarily like that person. You just may learn something! We may just find that living in community and being relational is just like the gospel and following Christ was intended to look like… (Acts). We just may find ourselves more in love with this Jesus that we say we follow….

Weigh yourself for a moment….

I ask you, WHAT IS MORE IMPORTANT?

                                                               a. Your JOB
                                                               b. Your FAMILY & COMMUNITY
