Last night a group of five went down town to find some internet. As we approached town, we noticed that there was quite the party going on! We passed up the baseball park, the courtyard and headed right on the main street in San Juan. Before we even got to main street (I’m actually not sure what it is called… I have seen ONE street sign and it was hanging by ONE nail!) we had to squeeze through the crowds. There were cars pulled up with their trunks open, music was blaring and the culture was at dance! There was cerveza, mopeds and about 1000 (at least) college aged students (a small bit of video was taken!). We sat down at the bar there to connect to their free wifi and finally on about the tenth call I got to talk to mom and dad on Skype for more than 10 seconds! The internet here is not near fast enough to upload videos so we MAY have to wait until a later date…. 🙁 Don’t worry though, I am still making them and they are ready to go! If I am correct, I have about 6 or 7 finished as of right now. It is frustrating knowing that y’all haven’t seen them yet, so I have to stay excited about them! I will do my best to find a place fast enough or a place that I can stay long enough to get at least one up but we shall see if I can. WAIT!!!! I was just told that a team got a video uploaded at a different place yesterday! They are closed today! Hopefully I can try tomorrow!!!! This EXCITES ME!
This morning a bunch of us woke up and went to Iglesia Evangelical Church. It was similar to churches back home. It is weird here though because there aren’t many churches at all. I have seen a Mormon church, Jehova’s Witness, and I believe two Christian churches. There was a band, and a TON of kids! The children went to Sunday school while the preacher spoke. That was quite the experience, let me tell you! I understood a few words, ‘Jesu Christo’ and ‘Amen’ that’s about it! Hahaha, no, I picked up on a little bit. There was a woman that sang a ‘special’ and it was LOOOOOOOOOONG! I was thinking, “Isn’t this song over yet!?” hahahaha Esta bien. I got a little video of the preacher, singing (worship and their version of happy birthday) so hopefully I can pull a video out of my hat for that one!
Today is a pretty relaxing day as we are still waiting until Tuesday to meet our contacts. A lot of people went to watch the world cup but as you guessed, I opted out of that one! I have videos to make for YOU! I am sitting here in a little internet cafe!
Continue in prayer for our squad/team please, there have been many changes in our ministries. I have been informed that we will now be in either the agriculture end of town (YAY!) or the slums. They DID tell us that things are subject to change, ALREADY!? hahaha Esta bien! (I like saying that, A LOT!) For those of you who don’t know, it means “It’s good”.
In the mean time, here are a few pictures from Santo Domingo!

The people who owned this place were Chinese, spoke Spanish and served American food!
More to come… internet has a mind of it’s own here!
