Finally getting back to my “series” on how I believe God has S.H.A.P.E.d me for The World Race. In Rick Warren’s paradigm the next element of how I’m shaped is my Personality. Warren is sometimes slammed for using personality assessments but there’s no psycho-babble here. The fact is we all have different temperaments.

Warren’s simple tool is to rate yourself on a scale on the following traits: Extrovert/Introvert, Thinker/Feeler, Routine/Variety, Self-Controlled/Self-Expressive, and Cooperative/Competitive.

Personality wise I have always thought of myself as being: Laid-back, easy-going, calm, persistent.

In preparation for The World Race we were all tested using a variety of assessments. I think I liked Leading From Your Strengths the best which identified me as a Golden Retriever meaning I am the guy that looks up at you with big eyes and a wagging tail! Well, maybe not.

But here’s how I see myself according to this assessment: Considerate, Thoughtful, Good-Natured, Dependable, Team player, Good listener.

Under moderate pressure, tension, stress or fatigue, others may see me as being: Nondemonstrative, Hesitant, Unconcerned, Inflexible

And, under extreme pressure, stress or fatigue, others may see me as being: Possessive, Stubborn, Detached, Insensitive

I don’t think I can really argue with the outcome of that assessment.
