Today, I turned twenty seven! Let me tell ya, I wouldn't want to spend my twenty seventh birthday any other way than on The World Race. I am surrounded by people I love, by sights one could only dream of seeing, and by the love of Jesus! God has shown up in so many ways already only a week into this thang that I can't imagine what He has up His sleeve for the rest of these eleven months. I only got two words for Him: Bring it on. Wait, that's three.

Here are eleven reasons why I am looking forward to being twenty seven:

  1. I will travel to eleven different countries in eleven months sharing the love of Jesus! We are spending our first month in Guatemala!
  2. I will get to ride an elephant!
  3. I will see a prayer said over me by a friend come into fruition: "That you would be ruined, broken, and messed up so that God's glory can work through you these next eleven months."
  4. I will get to pet a tiger!
  5. I will get to hold, hug, and play with orphans who are desperate for a Father's love. I may not be a Father, but I can show them Who is.
  6. I will get to use a Squattie Potty. Don't ask me why I am excited about that. Five minutes ago, I had an emergency situation resulting in my finding a bathroom near a Guatemalan Internet Cafe. It was not a Squattie Pott…but pretty bad. I am sure that would have seemed like a luxury after using one, though.
  7. God is going to show me what TRUE dependence on Him is. There are going to be days when I'm hungry, when I want to give up, when I just want to hug my family, and when I just want to be in the comfort of my own home. It's during those times, though, that God will show me that He is my source that nobody or nothing can step in and satisfy.
  8. I will get to see Mount Everest! But not climb it. Ain't nobody got time.
  9. I will grow in community like I never have before. I love my Squad and Team Frureo already, but it's only a week into the Race. Pretty soon, our faults, our struggles, and our weaknesses are going to show themselves. However, I am counting on God to show us how to truly love, show grace to, and challenge one another in ways that glorify Him.
  10. I will have eleven stamps in my Passport! Before last Sunday, it was empty.
  11. I will understand that life is not about me and what I can do. It's about giving hope to the hopeless and being a friend to the friendless by sharing the love of Christ that existed way before I did. This life, MY life, is about taking advantage of every opportunity to make His Name famous.

Needless to say, I am beyond excited about what God has to offer during my twenty seventh year and the rest of my life! More blogs to come about Guatemala, our ministry contact, and the work the Lord is doing here through us!
