The World Race has begun! My squad and I arrived in Guatemala City Saturday evening. We were transported by bus to an unfurnished house near the airport to spend the night before traveling the rest of the way to our location for the month.

Sunday after an amazing impromptu worship session on the roof of the house with an amazing view of the surrounding city, we boarded the bus again and made the 3-hour drive to our location for the month: Agape in Action, located in Santa cruz del Quiche.
Agape in Action is located beside Santa Elena National Hospital which ca

Even though all 60 of our squad will be living together, we will be doing different forms of ministry. This month my team has been designated to be a floater team and jump around to different ministries.
Today (Monday) was our first day of ministry. My teams along with another one stayed at the hospital and went in for a tour and to visit/ pray for the patients. This was a very humbling and heart-breaking experience to see some of the very malnourished infants as well as the lack of medical supplies. It truly brings into perspective how much we take for granted in America and my heart is truly saddened.
Seeing these children, I wanted to question why God would allow these things to happen. However, after leaving the hospital and debriefing what we had seen, I realize that God has a purpose for everything, and even when it seems that there is no explanation to why He would allow these types of things to happen, I realize that God sometimes has an underlying motive for His actions.
Right now I am reading a book that my brother Grant recommend entitled Not A Fan by Kyle Idleman . A quote from that book that I read this morning that related perfectly was “God may not cause an event to happen, but He allows it so that it can grab our attention.”
