Yesterday was my last day of work.  It was very bittersweet.  I love all of the men and women that I worked with very much and it’s really hard to leave them.  Don’t get me wrong, it’s still exciting to have a bit of freedom for the next month before I set off.  I am quite thrilled about it actually.  I will be leaving DC on Monday to go to the place a grew up, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Now, if you can’t tell just by the DC and South Carolina pieces, they are very different and I am going to miss DC very very much.  I love this place, LOVE IT!  I would definitely tell anyone to live here for any part of life.  Yes, it is expensive, but everything out weights that so much.  I am so lucky to have such great friends here.  The community is one that I will forever miss and forever be so grateful for.
I have been so blessed in finding a church that I can truly call home.  Restoration Arlington is a plant of The Falls Church.  The preaching is so real and scriptural.  The music is raw and accoustic.  The people are warm, welcoming and love so well.  I am very sad to leave this church, very sad!!
And then there is the city itself.  I live in a quiet neighborhood in the city that is so wonderful.  Then in 5 minutes I can get to Georgetown, where the quaintness of the architecture and the bustling of the streets create an awesome environment.  Oh and the food and shopping aren’t bad either.  I’d suggest Paulo’s for yummy Italian, Los Quates for Mexican, Baked and Wired for cupcakes, and Thomas Sweets for ice cream.
Eastern Market, on Captial Hill, is one of my favorite places to go in the city.  The food inside is fantastic and the market goods outside are amazing.  All around wonderful experience.  I will never cease to admire the downtown area.  With the Nation’s Capital Building, the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Monument, the Jefferson Monument, the White House and many more amazing (and free) monuments and museums you can truly never be bored here.  My favorite monument, however, is not on the mall, but is in Arlingtin.  The Iwo Jima is the most immaculate monument if you ask me.  It’s amazing and if you walk around it, it looks as if the flag is being raised, which is really cool!
I could go on and on about this city – it’s amazing and needless to say I am really really sad to leave it and my friends here, as well as my brother, Whit, sister-in-law, Meredith, and my sweet niece, Mary Harper.  I am so excited to go on this adventure but it’s going to be a very tearful goodbye from this place.  This has been on of my favorite seasons and I’m so sad to see it pass, but I know the Lord has great things for me in the future and I can’t wait to experience them!  And hey, I can always come back here!!!
