This past week was one of those weeks that made me question everything. Question my career. Question my future. Question if I am doing the right thing with leaving my family for a year. It seems like the closer my squad draws to our launch date, the harder the enemy tries to discourage us – spiritual attacks, family members being hospitalized, support raising, etc. While it is difficult to be going through these things it also solidifies that The World Race is what we are supposed to do.
“Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.” James 1:12
As a nurse, your biggest fear is your personal life intersecting with your work life. Wednesday was one of those scary days when the patients on my unit were very unstable and I got that dreaded phone call from my mom saying my nephew was being brought into the hospital. While everyone is doing well now, it was a very scary and stressful 24 hours. Moments like that when I have to keep my composure because I still have others’ lives in my hands is HARD! After everything checked out with my nephew thoughts like, “what if something like this happens while I am gone?” and “I’m going to miss out on my nephew’s first year of life” resonate through my head. I have to constantly remind myself that God put me on this path for a reason. He has a plan that is SO much better than mine. HE is the great provider and HE will take care of my family, not me.
On a more joyful note, I am over 50% FUNDED!!! While raising support is certainly stressful, God has and will continue to lead people to support me. In my “perfect world” I would be 100% funded before I leave on January 6th, but who knows what God’s plan is? Thank you to everyone who has supported me thus far! I cannot believe that in 6 weeks I will be beginning my journey with The World Race starting in Atlanta, GA for a couple more days of training!
