Welcome to my World Race Blog!

WHO AM I?

First and foremost, I am a child of God. He called me from a young age to follow Him. Even though I have had ups and downs, He is a constant. I am a daughter to a king that delights in listening to His’ children and showering them with His’ love.

I am a 24 year old ICU nurse. I graduated from Clemson University in 2012 and have been working at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina since then.

I have an amazingly supportive family. Through this whirlwind of finding out about the trip, applying, interviewing, and being accepted they have had my back from praying for me to calming me down when I let the worry take ahold of me.

WHAT DO YOU DO FOR FUN?

Things that I enjoy doing: sports (ultimate frisbee, running, soccer, basketball), singing, cooking (especially baking!), rock climbing, hiking, swing dancing, spending quality time with friends, watching movies.

WHY THIS TRIP?

Missions has always been a big part in my life. I started going on missions trips when I was in 6th grade and continued into my adult life. Each trip has been different and God has taught me a lot through them. I have always wanted to do missions long term, but God kept telling me “not yet.” When I saw this trip I immediately began to pray because I thought this was the perfect trip for me – an all spanish route that includes Latin America which I have a particular heart for.

Medical missions trip to Nicaragua at the beginning of September. I am on the left. My friend and fellow nurse, Nancy is on the right.

I am privileged in the fact that I can easily pick up my life and do something like this. I have a career in which I can always find a job. I am not dating or married. I do not own a house. When I told my parents their reaction was along the lines of “We knew this day was going to come.” God has not only prepared my heart for this, but also my parents to trust God with their youngest.

THE QUICK AND DIRTY OF WHAT I NEED

The most important thing I need is prayer. Satan is already attacking me and making me doubt. Pray that I will have the strength to combat these attacks and that I will lean on God during those times. Pray for my heart – that I will be open to what God wants to do in my life and through me. This trip is going to be very hard physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The other major need I have is financial support. Because I just found out I was going on The World Race recently, I am a little behind on support raising. I have been charged with raising $14,242.60. I ask that you prayerfully consider partnering with my financially. That can be done through one time donations or through a monthly commitment. Look for more information on how to specifically do that in an upcoming post.
