Matthew 6:10
Your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.

With all that’s been going on, it’s almost impossible to even think about what that means. We looked at the Lord’s Prayer during a church gathering recently and discussed this in youth group. What would it really look like to have Kingdom come and His will be done on Earth?

Here’s what I see:

  • More centers for kids who can’t read good and wanna learn to do other stuff good too (sorta kidding, sorta not)
  • Loving and genuine friendships with no strings attached
  • A workplace that’s focused on relationships — where patience, grace, understanding, constructive feedback, and encouragement are extended
  • A neighborhood that looks more like a community than a series of closed doors — where people know one another and share resources
  • A street where the homeless are seen — their presence acknowledged and their worth affirmed
  • Children who aren’t exploited, abused, or forgotten — who are free to live life as kids instead of joining gangs, being trafficked, and attacked, verbally and physically
  • A land where people don’t have to worry about where or how they are going to get food for the day
  • A world where everybody knows and can experience the joy and freedom in knowing God’s love–where we all can see and treat one another how Jesus saw us…AND where these words aren’t just some cheesy phrases Christians say and nobody else ever really understands but something that feels as real as the ground we walk on
This may not all happen overnight but I challenge myself. I challenge you. What does this kingdom look like to you, and how can you play a part in it?
