My memory is full of faces from this past year. People who have given up everything to follow the call God has for them. I feel so blessed to have gotten to know these people. They have inspired, challenged, and grown me in ways I never thought imaginable. Uganda has been no different. This month my team and I are working with Pastor Joseph. This man has a fire inside of him to change Uganda. He is a visionary and I have seen with my own eyes his dreams come to life. His love for God shines in everything he does. He has been the pastor at Christ Ambassadors Church for over 10 years, leading his community to Christ through love and kindness. He is a father to the fatherless. Currently he has taken in 6 children into his own home, but his love doesn't stop there. He is also a father to the 384 children who attend the school he founded 5 years ago. Each one he knows by name, each one he cares for. This school is currently in the progress of building a library, which is a huge deal in Africa. And while I've been here, my team and I are building a dormitory for some of the orphaned children while they attend school. Needless to say, God is using Pastor Joseph here in Uganda. When I listen to him talk I know his heart is aligned with God's. When we arrived he told us his future vision for the school. He wants it to be self sustaining. Behind the school there is a garden full of fruits and veggies that they can sell. He then told us one day he wants to have cows and chickens to provide food for the children, jobs for adults, which could bring income into the school. He told us that one cow costs around $500 in Uganda and that's all it would take. That if he owned one cow he could breed it over the years and multiply the livestock. His dream for the chickens is the same, to multiply them, use their eggs to feed the school children, and create income for the school. I love that this man wants to be self sustaining, to be able to provide for these children for years to come. And while I'm here we are going to make it happen. My team and I are currently fundraising for this dream to come true. We love what we see and we are working hard to see that by the time we leave this school they will own a cow. If you would like to help us in any way we would really appreciate it. If you have any questions you can email me at [email protected]. Or, if you would like to donate please send a check to David and Debra Nelson, 615 Clinton St., Little River, KS 67457. My parents will be putting the money into my bank account where I will then be able to pull it out directly from the ATM. Safe and easy! Thank you again for considering. God Bless!
