It’s Unsung Heroes month!!!!
Now many of you probably don’t know what Unsung Heroes even means. That’s ok. I didn’t know what it meant for a while either. When I first heard of UH I was so confused… I’m not Cat Woman and who’d ever want to be “unsung”?? But now I get it AND now I’m a part of it for this month in Chile! So let’s talk.
Unsung Heroes is a program/campaign within the World Race. It was created so that the World Race could reach more contacts around the World so that they may be a future ministry host for WR teams. These contacts of UH are ones that you probably couldn’t find through a Google search or a simple phone call. They’re founded by people who are going by foot into communities, villages, or neighborhoods that others may look over. Therefore, maybe you’re wondering what it looks like for me being a part of UH…
We travel. A lot. My team and I have been assigned central Chile as the region where we can search for possible contacts (two other teams of the squad are in the northern and southern part of Chile). So for this month, we truly are “backpackers”- searching for places to stay, learning the culture on our own, and carrying those ridiculous heavy packs almost everywhere we go. It can be exhausting at times but it’s one of the most thrilling things I’ve done since on the race. We are seriously travelers not knowing where we’ll be within the next 24 hours! I love that! And I can’t express to you what an honor it is to do UH in Chile this month. Chile is insanely full of color, culture, and let’s be honest, too much bread. But the greatest part of this month with UH is the listening part. We have an invitation to take the time to listen to Jesus and the Spirit more. It’s an invitation to lean more on the unseen and follow that still, small voice. With many unknowns, we have a choice to either freak out or call out to the One who knows it all. And let’s be honest again, my team and I have done both already this month.
So now that you have a greater understanding of what UH is and the life within, I’m giving you an invitation to pray with me over the rest of this month in Chile. There’s still so much to be done but I personally believe prayer is still one of the highest callings for you and I. Please pray for protection, guidance, peace, and sensitivity to when Jesus speaks. Thank you for these prayers.
Chao Pescao! (See ya later!)
