“The only way to change the way someone thinks is through education.”

These are the words of our ministry host this month, Mr. Flores – a father, pastor, and principal of Loyalty School. Mr. Flores said these words a few days ago and my heart smiled when he said this. He has an incredible heart full of both gentleness and passion. His gentleness reaches out to the students on a daily basis which shouts out love. His passion is never ending – the moment I think he’s going to express his exhaustion he says “OK!” and moves on to the next thing. With everything they have, Mr. Flores and his family continuously pour into Loyalty School. If you were here, after a day or so, you would see this.

Loyalty School is a place where huge hearts and major strength can be found every week. It’s right outside of the capital, Tegucigalpa and is a bilingual school. (So as you probably figured out, we’re teaching English this month!) There are over 35 students in Loyalty School. Each student lives in the poorer part of Tegucigalpa. Most of them live at least 15 min away from the school and if they were to walk to school, then they’d be passing dangerous territories. These students come from families that aren’t able to pay for their education. Therefore, students of Loyalty School are here because of scholarships. Every day, Loyalty School runs just like a normal school with periods, recess, special events, daily lessons, and homework. It just looks different from what we know. Along with school each day, every student is picked up and brought home in the only van owned by the family. Mr. Flores and his wife take care of this job every single day. School starts at 7:10 a.m. – they live almost an hour away … just Mr. Flores and his family. I’m sure you can do the math and see the dedication put in just for one day.

There are many needs that need to be met here at Loyalty School. More teachers are needed, the students need more one-on-one attention, and most of all sponsorship is desperately needed. The great thing is there’s so much potential! My team and I are the first World Race group to ever stay at Loyalty School. The school has been established for seven years without major assistance. How crazy! We’re believing that greater things are to come and we’re here to take a few more steps with them. Please pray for Mr. Flores and Loyalty School.  The heart of Jesus is in him. His passion for the students to have a greater opportunity in life because of a bilingual education is evident. He’s not a hard master ruling over the children, he’s a teacher walking right by his children… just like Jesus. I can say with absolute confidence, Loyalty School is answering this – to train a child in the way they should go …. Prov. 22:6
