A few glimpses of our time in Hong Kong and Beijing…
I love the rustic feel of old looking villages.
Step outside of the cities in China – and you behold similar sites to this.
A whole lot of buildings in a teeny-tiny amount of space…with a large quantity of people + bikes.
It is spring time in many parts of China – Beijing includes. The increasing warm temperatures have prompted the sprouting of leaves and early blossoms/buds. As the surroundings of this nation turn from brown to green, pray too that their hearts be awakened to the color and freedom of knowing God – pray for eyes to see their Creator at work.
The twang-twing-twong of music echoes off the cobblestone street.
Paper lanterns light your way as dancing street signs illuminate the storefront staircases.
Dumplings for sale, just 2 yuan each…
Cream puffs down the road…1 yuan = 6.
Hostels, lots of shoes, bracelets n’ beads…
Where oh where do these light up streets lead?!
Step out of the busy city and into serenity.
Rachel and I spent one of our afternoons in Beijing at the Zhongang Garden’s near Tianamen Square.
The smell of spring hung in the air as blossoms fell to the ground and children chased their grandmas around.
A husband photographing his wife.
The sunshine parting through the clouds.
A whispering wind waltzing with the weeping branches that decorate the riverbank.
The sound of laughter…the holding of hands…bright orange fish a little girl tried to catch with her hands.
Beautiful blossoms illuminated with Light.
A glimpse of the hope for the hearts of people in China.
A word to the wise…even on public transportation.
If you’re wearing bright colors in public and everyone already notices you…
why not jump up and dance in the middle of the street as well!?
The worst case scenario is it earns you a handful of laughs
and you may or may not influence grow-up foreigners to follow your lead.
Matthew 10:27 is a verse the Lord has been speaking to me since the Philippines:
“What I tell you now in the darkness, shout abroad when daybreak comes.
What I whisper in your ear, shout from the housetops for all to hear.”
In the process of memorizing this verse, I’ve found myself examining various rooftops wherever we go.
China certainly sports some of the most ornate and colorful rooftops/carving/decorations I’ve seen on the race.
Chinese market man showing off his rice-patty hat. Red is a very prominent color in China.
Noodles are sold on every corner…and there are entirely too many things to consider purchasing.
Did you know that Chinese people eat more noodles than rice?
Did you know that 6.6 Chinese yuan = $1 USD?
or that 7 Hong Kong dollars = $1 USD?
Did you know that a large painting of Mao is plastered to the front wall of
the Forbidden City…just across from Ti’anamen Square?
This month we’ve had some adventures, and these photos alone don’t capture the abundance of them.
Whenever our squad is able to get together, it is always a reason to celebrate.
Whether for a few hours, days, or a week on an African bus…this time is precious.
Brother and sisters walking together…
down broken roads, dirty sidewalks, twisted paths, wherever God leads.
The body of Christ in action is what I see!
