The faces I have seen, the hands I have held…in these last eight nations, have all whispered the same thing:
“I want to be loved. I want to be beautiful! I want to be treasured and valued.”
One of my favorite things on the race is telling people they are beautiful…
“Bonita!” “Gwapa ka!” “Belle!”..the list goes on and on.
No matter where you go, when you tell someone they are beautiful, they come alive!
JOY always erupts on their faces – and mine as well.
When we speak God’s truth over His children…it breathes change in the world around us!
From the little girl in the multi-cab looking shyly away…
to the grandmother on the main street eating her friend banana with no teeth.
I SEE BEAUTY!
The mother carrying her baby several miles through a village to attend your crusade…
to the teenager questioning her identity amongst all the pressures of her peers.
I SEE BEAUTY!
From the Haitian cook…to the single mother of five in a Mozambique village…
I SEE BEAUTY.
From the sick woman in Malawi lying desperate on her bed…
to the lady with the umbrella, I just passed buying bread.
I SEE BEAUTY!
From one who hides her face because her skin isn’t white enough…or turns her head in shame because she feels unworthy…to the one who walks confidently on the outside but is crumbling on the inside.
I SEE BEAUTY.
From the crazy women I’m blessed to live life with…
to the little girls that have no one speaking their TRUE identity over them.
I SEE BEAUTY!
From the Muslim woman who sits in her shop…ashamed that she’s not adorned in her proper attire, and doesn’t measure up with other women of her faith in the community…
to the girl who has no mother to care for her, and has to skip school to make ends meet.
I SEE BEAUTY!
In the eyes of the one who’s never been told,
and the heart of the one who thinks they’ll never be found…
I SEE BEAUTY!
From the faithful women who I’ve met in each country, who speak life and love into the younger generation…
to the children they fight for every day…
I SEE BEAUTY!
The lost.
The broken.
The weary.
The wounded.
The purposed.
The possessed.
The treasured.
The left.
I SEE BEAUTY!
The beloved.
The fallen.
The secure.
The lonely.
Those set in families.
Those with shattered dreams.
God loves each one of them, and over each one of them…
HE DECLARES HIS BEAUTY! HE BREATHES HIS BEAUTY!
It’s been a privilege to spend the month with this many women of God.
We’ve grown together. We’ve laughed together. We’ve cried together.
We’ve fought together, prayed together, sang together, cooked together, endured baby shifts together.
We’re run together, traveled together, bunked together…and come out more beautiful for it!
Every time I see the women on our squad, they are more beautiful than the time before.
Women so full of grace – women who have fallen deeply in love with the Lord – and let Him be King of their hearts!
Iron sharpening iron…
these women are warriors, they are royalty, they’ve forever influenced my life!
