Genesis.
Beginning.
New.
Creation.
Breathe.
Life.
Hope.
Light.
Genesis.

In the village she lives nestled amongst other colorful wooden houses with curtain doors and no windows. Quiet and shy – a tiny bit sly – she giggles when no one’s looking, and her smirk lights up the room. She hides herself from attention – yet revels in it at the same time.

Bright black balls rest in the middle of her eyes.
A glimmer of peace sparkles at the corner of her cheeks.
Climbing in my lap – to the safe place she finds.
I know without a single doubt – her friendship is now mine.
We sit in church. We sing to the music.
Her mom smiles at us from the street.
She’s content not to leave – even when the service is done.
In my lap she remains until I stand and she runs.
Dodging pillars and colorful plastic chairs.
Her laughter, beautiful laughter, now fills the air.
Chasing after her, I see her face dance with delight.
Sprinting into my arms, I catch her mid-flight.
Genesis – a girl of destiny – a daughter of the King.
Quite possibly four and likely not much more – a quiet house of power…
Creation waits for the hour – the she’ll bring hope to this village, and Light to the people…
new beginnings to her family, and Life to those who know her.
Genesis, my dear little friend – is precious in the Lord’s sight.
How greatly, how greatly, in her He delights.
