Habakkuk 3:19 says this,

“The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread upon the heights.”

[The KJV translation reads “hinds feet”.]

During training camp on team making day we had an opportunity to hit the town and flee the woods to make a memory with our new teammates. Our rowdy crew joined up with another team and headed toward the highway in search of whatever new adventure awaited us…we ended up at Target, never expecting the fresh revelation that would encounter us all through a simple “get to know you” game. One of our teammates grabbed the book “Oh the Places You Will Go” by Dr. Seuss, and there we all sat, cross-legged in the little kids clothing section reading this story book intently. Any passer-byer would have wondered what on earth a group of seven adults were doing reading a children’s book in the middle of a store, but we were on a search for a name, something to define us, something to declare vision and purpose over our team and the come year of loving, healing, capturing, and claiming the nations.

As I read in a semi-silly teach voice the words “HIGHEST HEIGHTS” literally leapt off the pages and into my heart. My spirit instantly checked and my body flooded with goose bumps. The words “Hinds Feet” burned in my stomach and mind like a freshly installed set of high-brights. I couldn’t wait to finish the book – and as we closed it I nearly burst with anticipation of sharing this thought. Briefly explaining the thought and it’s Scripture reference Habakkuk 3:19, my teammate Lucas whipped out his lovely phone for a quick search. This is what he discovered:

The phrase ‘hinds’ feet’ is used in the Bible to denote an ability to overcome difficult challenges successfully, as in Verse 33 from Psalm 18, which reads ‘He maketh my feet like hinds’ feet, and setteth me upon my high places.’ A hind, which is a female red deer, is able to move quickly and easily across the rocks of a mountain, leaping from one rock to another without ever losing its footing. Thus the biblical verse means that God has inspired his believers and empowered them to overcome the obstacles which confront them, doing things that would otherwise be difficult or impossible without divine aid.

And there we had it…a revelation…a name…an identity to declare over ourselves and to believe God
to manifest throughout our journey as a team on the World Race. I truly believe we have been
chosen to tread upon heights that would seem absurd to others, or not necessary.
I believe God is calling this team to solely depend on His strength, and to draw from the core,
the foundation upon which He has built each one of us. He has purposed us with vision and purpose,
and though challenges may come – we will approach them with grace and great faith, prepared to
leap from rock to rock declaring the Word of the Lord – and the LIFE ALTERING LOVE of
JESUS CHRIST to all people.
As I consider our team name, I am delighted and refreshed – thankful and astounded at how God
speaks to and through His children. I am also reminded of a vision someone prayed over me within
the last few months. They saw a river with lots of rocks, and water was flooding by as I leapt from
rock to rock – gracefully and with ease. Recalling this leads me to believe that God foresaw the
mission of this team long before we even dreamed of participating in the world race.
To God be the glory!

Please pray for TEAM HINDS FEET!
