Hey everyone!

I have exciting and very important news. Amidst all the devastation that is going on right now with many of our Haitian brothers and sisters following a huge earthquake and dozens upon dozens of aftershocks — the July 2010 team has been notified that we WILL be ministering in HAITI this coming AUGUST and will likely play a crucial role in the restoration process in HAITI. I would urge you to consider assisting those in Haiti both directly – and by supporting us world racers who will be the hands and feet of this relief work in just a few short months. (Seriously…how am I supposed to finish my final semester of college with THIS on my mind!!!?!?!???)

I’ve included an article from the updates page for the world race to give you more information on how to get involved with helping those experiencing this devastating time in Haiti. Please read below:
It should be no surprise by now that Haiti was hit with a 7.0 magnitude earthquake two nights ago, one of the worst earthquakes that the country has experienced in centuries.

The January 2009 World Race squad’s first stop last year was Haiti. They spent four weeks ministering there, and one participantTeri knew that part of her destiny would be fulfilled in reaching the Haitians for Jesus. She returns next month. Many more World Race alumni will follow in her footsteps, restoring devastated places, and this summer, the July Race will visit Haiti as one of their first countries. In addition, AIM will soon have opportunities for other short-term volunteers to go and help.

Haiti Earthquake
But many people have still been asking us how they can help Haitiright now.

Full-time AIM missionaries Miguel and Kristen Shaul are in the field in the Dominican Republic right now and are headed to Haiti were heading to Haiti last night to provide some much-needed relief and help to the country. They recently posted to their blog the following:
If the borders are not too difficult, Miguel will attempt to get in as far as possible and access the nearest need closest to the Dominican border. We imagine smaller, poorer towns will have massive devastation as well due to inadequate structural integrity even though they are further out from the epicenter.

The primary goal is to bring first-response relief to those in need, supplies such as food, blankets, shelters, and basic health care will be needed.

Our secondary goal is to identify communities in which we can get involved in long term rebuilding. In both of these cases, we request prayer for the Lord’s leading of our effort and favor, and we also ask for partnership in funding our response. Please consider joining in our work to respond to this great brokenness with the love of Christ. Read more...
