Bible 2

After leaving China, we had the opportunity of a lifetime. Since we had been granted double entries on our visas, we would be able to go back into China taking with us Bibles and other materials. After having our briefing on what to expect and how to handle certain situations, my group headed out with bags full of God’s word.

During our briefing I learned that in reality, it is not illegal to take Bibles into China. It’s illegal for me to give a Bible to a local. Although, I probably won’t get in trouble (the worst that would happen to me would be being deported), on the other hand, the person who receives the Bible could get into serious trouble.

(However if you are caught taking Bibles into China, they will take them from you and you will have to pay in order to get them back out.)

As we headed through the crowds of people, silent prayers filled the place. I came around a corner and was hoping to see a huge crowd of people just walking right on through security so that I would be able to get lost in the crowd and bypass security with the other travelers. However, I saw only two or three people. One was a person from our squad being told to go back and put her bag through the scanner and the other was a Chinese man being told the same thing. For an instance, my heart sank. They had already told us that when the Bibles go through the scanners they will look like a solid brick therefore they raise red flags and the bags get searched.

I tossed my luggage up on the scanner, copying the actions of the Chinese man in front of me and prayed for blind eyes. As I looked up, I saw my squad mate taking her bag. Then the man in front of me took his bag. Then finally my bag rolled out, scooping it up I walked past security with no stops! God had blinded the eyes of the security officers!

100% of my group got through! What an amazing experience! At times like these, you get to experience the most amazing ‘spiritual high’ because you have to completely depend on Him. What an awesome experience!
