This is my favorite memory from Cambodia!
One evening as the majority of the team went out, I decided to stay back and learn Khmer. Chomrong, a 15 year old, had agreed to teach me his language.

As I came downstairs for my class. Chomrong had already prepared a table with two chairs for us. He was already seated in the ‘teacher’s’ seat. Honestly, this is one of the sweetest things I’ve seen while on the Race.
For two hours Chomrong taught me Khmer. He speaks clearly and has a ton of patience! And I actually really did learn a lot of Khmer. I could go to the store and buy a coke in Khmer and I could understand what the little girls were saying while I painted thier faces one evening. I even surprised Chomrong!
During this time I realized how sweet Chomrong really was. His defenses fell and I got a chance to see another side of him. Out of the entire time in Cambodia, these precious two hours were my favorite!!
