During our first week in Pattaya, we met a young man named Nick in a sungtow (taxi). A week later we ran into him again in the Big C (which is like a Wal-Mart) and went to get ice cream with him. Now in Pattaya, you NEVER see the same people! We knew it was a God thing from the beginning.

Nick is just a little older then me and super nice! He works here in Pattaya at a hotel and then also has other side jobs. After talking to Nick, we knew God was intervening in his life. Nick had mentioned that when he was going through a hard time, a Christian came and gave him a word of encouragement. Because of this one Christian, Nick thinks highly of us now.

Our last week in Pattaya, we called Nick to go to dinner with us. Sure enough, he agreed to meet us. During dinner I felt like we needed to share the Word of God with him – to be honest I was a little disappointed because it didn’t seem like anyone had a word to share with him and I just didn’t understand it.

After dinner (I’m still not sure why I asked this, maybe out of desperation to get some Word of God across to him that night) I asked Nick if we got him a Bible if he would read it. I figured if we couldn’t tell him something then he could at least read it. To my surprise, Nick’s face lit up and he said that he would like a Bible – more specifically a Thai/English Bible. Now at this time, I had no idea where I would even find a Bible to give to Nick. I had gone in local bookstores and there are no Christian books in there. Nor did I have a clue how much it would cost, but I was willing to spend whatever just to give this man a Bible if I could find one. But now he wanted a Thai/English Bible…I didn’t know if they even made those! What was I going to do?!
