Wherever Jesus went, Sozo followed. Sozo was in the New Testament more than 110 times. The same Sozo with Jesus was and is with my team. Let me explain.

This past Tuesday in the Ramaville community, we noticed that Roman who came regularly to our gatherings wasn’t there. His wife and daughter invited us to come to their home. They told us that he had a fever and was weak, which prevent him from coming. We laid hands on his forehead and shoulders. We invited Sozo. We prayed for the fever to leave him in the powerful name of Jesus. The next day when my team visited him, his fever had left him and he felt restored to health.

On Wednesday, we bumped into Lolita on the streets. Her side and back was also hurting, probably from all the coughing. Again, we invited Sozo and we laid hands on her praying for the pain on her side and back to leave in the name of Jesus. Two days later, she tells us that she has been feeling a lot better.

On Thursday, a woman asked us to pray for her seven month old niece, Megan, who had been sick since the Wednesday of last week and had a fever. We invited Sozo and laid hands in prayer for her niece in Jesus name. The very next day, Megan’s aunt tells us that she is completely healed of her fever and is no longer sick.

Sozo is not a who. It is a what. Sozo is the Greek word indicating the saving, healing, and deliverance powers of Jesus. Sozo is to be saved from punishment for sin, healed of disease, and delivered from demonic influence. As followers of Christ, we are commissioned “As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.'” Wherever Jesus went, healing broke forth. The heart of God is to heal. As we pray for the sick, we are choosing to be the hands of Jesus. We don’t know when, but sometimes when we pray, God will choose to unleash sozo- to save, heal, and deliver those among us.

“Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.” Mark 1:30-31
