Angels and demons, are they real? Is God real? Is Jesus real?
When I was young, I had a dream about meeting Jesus and he asked me what is the desire of your heart. Although I was only a child then I remember waking up crying because I was praying so hard for my family in my dream. God has revealed many things to me, often times I don’t understand why I desire to pray for certain things and yet years later I see them come to pass- my grandpa quitting smoking and drinking, a Mosaic community being planted in the Bay Area, and even myself being on the World Race. I had prayed years ago that God would send me to change the world out in the world and here I am.
This past week my team met a lady named Flora. She was a mother of 8 kids and a grandmother of 14 grandchildren all living under one roof. At a time before she had gotten married, she thought about committing suicide. She decided one day to jump off a high cliff. However, when she looked over the cliff, she saw God with outstretched arms waiting to catch her below. Perhaps it was an angel or perhaps it was Jesus, but she was clear that whoever he was, that he was a divine being and that he was waiting to save her. At that moment, she put her faith in the living God and knew that she had a reason to live.
Prayer is valuable. Prayer is very much like karate. You are fighting for the freedom of others and yourself and each prayer is like throwing a kick to weaken the problems and destroy the real issues. Roman is an 82 year old man who had been praying for a team like mine to assist the community and to start a Bible study and a church. He had been praying for the community to unite. Who knew that God would use us as an answer to his prayers? During one of our gatherings, he and his daughter Ebony asked for prayer because they thought that Ebony was having hallucinations in her home. I asked Ebony exactly what she was seeing. She said she saw images of light and images of shadow that would come and speak to her. She was seeing angels and demons and she didn’t even know it. She was seeing into the spiritual realm. Although she was a follower of Christ, she was still being visited by evil spirits so we prayed with their family over the house for their protection. I have friends that both believe and don’t believe in God that have seen angels and demons. The spiritual realm is indeed alive, but there is nothing to be afraid of- the question is, whose side will you choose? All I know is that God’s side is always more powerful and that darkness will flee in the presence of his light. That by claiming in Jesus name for God’s protection, evil always leaves.
Ephesians 6:11-12 11Put on all the armor that God gives, so you can defend yourself against the devil’s tricks. 12We are not fighting against humans. We are fighting against forces and authorities and against rulers of darkness and powers in the spiritual world.
