One evening this past week, it started to rain like crazy. Thirty of us stood under one roof just outside the community toilets to communicate with God in our own expression- be it singing, playing an instrument, dancing in the rain, or sharing a word of encouragement. About an hour into it, this man drives up to us at the camp site, jumps out of his van, and warns us of an impending hurricane that would flood our tents. It was Nevles, the pastor of Eastgate church, who hospitably invites us to stay at the Eastgate building for the night. More than that, he said we can stay there for the rest of our time at Byron Bay. It was an answer to a prayer for free housing that we had asked for the moment we had stepped off the airport in Australia. We had been paying $10/day just to camp in a tent at Bellongio Fields, which was $3/day over our budget per person. Now, out of no where, we have free housing for the rest of this month. God works in the unexpected, in and through the storms.
