We search all of our lives for a hero

Someone we want to be like

All my life I haven’t had one

I had no one I looked up to aside from my mother, but isn’t that every daughters admiration?

I have finally, at age 22, met my hero.

And I’m going to tell you about him.

He’s tall, dark, and handsome

You may disagree upon first glance

Only because he’s a nomad,

Living with what the Lord provides for him and nothing else

But if you spent time with him you would concur.

He is beautiful (yes, a man can be beautiful)

He is a faithful and loyal servant

Millions of people persecute him for his beliefs

But that doesn’t dampen his faith

He’s a man sold out for the Lord.

He bestows grace, mercy, and compassion every single day.

He proclaims the Gospel every opportunity he gets with no shame

No obstacle is too big, if the Lord has asked he will do, fearlessly.

He is humble

And He loves like no one I’ve ever met.

Unconditionally.

And now comes the cliche missionary statement,

Don’t stop reading once you see it,

because yes it’s cliche and a totally Christian thing to say,

but it’s also ME writing it,

Me, Chris or Bonnie or now I go by Tina, from KCMO, who loves volleyball and my friends, and laughs at too many of my own jokes.

This is my heart

and I’m inviting you into a small piece of my heart.

I’m describing Jesus

He is my inspiration and my hero

And every day I pray to be more like him.

If all you know of Him comes from sunday school

or forced church services as a child, or maybe even now, as an adult,

or maybe all you know of him is words through the grapevine.

Brush your teeth, get the bitter taste out of your mouth!

I promise you, He has all you need.

And with my whole being I truly believe that anyone who gets to know Him would claim Him to be their hero too.

and if they don’t, i’m 100 percent sure they don’t know the real man,

He’s amazing.
