It's not about making money, appearance, or comparison
It's quite the opposite of what I'm used to
Days are from sun up to sun down
(Unless there's a wedding or funeral then the music starts at 3 am).
The clock goes unnoticed.
You can be inside the house but you're still partially outside.
Hygiene is interesting
Or should I say the lack of
That goes for clothes also
Pajamas in America are regularly worn outfits here. You know the kind with the matching top and bottom?
Men, you're lucky, it is completely appropriate for you to wear a sarong around your waist at all times.
Children are always outside- along with everyone else
And they're playing- weird concept right?
The rubberband is one of their favorite toys
As I write this they have found a small nut and stick to play some good ol American baseball.
Foods are picked from the trees
Hammocks are everywhere
Honey is put on wounds.
Everything they need is right here.

People don't live by the seat of their pants
They don't have a schedule booked full of appointments
They live, they do their work, and they rest.
They don't spend hours attempting to stay connected with people.
Their family is their life.
They don't need more than one dollar a day.
One dollar is enough.

Life here is good
Laughing is regular
And love is abundant.

I have spent a month in heaven.
Thank you Cambodia.
