Dear friends and family,
I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to write you to let you know about some new things that are going on in my life. A few years back I came across a website advertising adventure, purpose and a race around the world and I immediately fell in love. I believe the best kind of love is the kind that awakens the soul, that plants fire in our hearts, a love that makes us reach for more and re think what you want in life. Maybe some of you have experienced that before, through a husband or wife, through a passion, or through your children. That is how I feel every time I think about leaving the comforts of home behind and hitting the road to travel to a new destination, and sharing that same love with new people.
Next July I will serve as a missionary through an organization called Adventures in Missions in their World Race program. The World Race is an 11 month Christian mission trip to 11 different countries around the world, spending one month in one country. Through adventure, ministry, community, and self discovery, World Racers develop broken hearts that propel their hands to act for God’s kingdom around the globe. On the World Race, my team and I will serve in partnership with churches and ministries in local communities to share the Gospel. We will minister to women and children who are trapped in prostitution as a result of human trafficking, teach English to children in poverty, volunteer in orphanages stricken with HIV and bring restoration and hope to many tribes and nations.
The countries I am travelling too include Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Swaziland, Botswana, and South Africa. Now I know what you’re probably thinking, am I crazy? Perhaps, but that’s beside the point. I truly feel that this is what I am being called to do, and I am too young to have a midlife crisis, so I believe this is a calling from God. Perhaps not all of you are believers, and that okay, but when is the last time you truly left peace about something you were meant to do? Many people walk through life going through the motions battling with life’s expectations and dreaming of their perfect future. This is not a traditional path in life but I am confident in walking this path I believe God has chosen for me, I just hope to not walk it alone. I am so grateful for this opportunity He has given and ultimately my prayer is that my friends and family will help me get there.
To start this trip around the world, I must raise $16, 285 which covers all my expenses in the field. My flight to training camp in Atlanta the month before, my gear and all my vaccinations will be extra. I am writing to you to ask if you would consider in partnering with me financially in any amount to help my dreams become a reality. This financial support can be given as a onetime gift or as a monthly donation, where you are able to choose the amount, beginning and end date. If just over 25 people were to pledge $50 a month for 12 months, I would be 100% funded. I have included a sheet for more instructions about pledging your support if you feel called to do so, and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to give me a call (905-240-0452) or e-mail me [email protected].
Someone once said that ‘the ones who are crazy enough to change the world are usually the ones that do.’ But I am sure none of them walked alone, and my question is if you will walk with me?
With love,
Christina
