As I sat reflectively in one of our church’s prayer meetings, soaking in the sweet sound of Albanian words, worshiping the God I serve and praising his name, I considered all of who God is to me.
My analogy appreciating mind construed that I worship and serve a God of prepositions.
Prepositions, or those words that typically come before a noun or pronoun that relate words to other words, are vast in number. The fact I discovered is that I can take any preposition and add a word to reflect a trait or characteristic of who God is, and how he acts towards me.
God is about me. God is above me. God is amid my strife. God is behind me. God is for me. God is against sin. God is near me. God is outside of darkness. God is without blemishes. God is inside my heart. God is underneath me. God is unlike any other.
I could go on and on with more traits and characteristics.
But God is all these things towards everyone else in the world too, no matter the language or country… including you.
It’s sometimes mind boggling to pause and think of our God, who is so great and mighty, as: in, for, above, and underneath even the trivial matters of our lives.
But he simply is, and I’ve been reminding myself of this during my team’s time here in Kosovo.
The month has been a growing and stretching one. I have seen how God is moving about, above, behind, and for the country of Kosovo. I have seen how God is moving amid my team, and I have definitely seen how God is moving inside my heart.
My heart will leave Kosovo full of splendid friendships, marvellous memories, and a few extra burns on my hands from the fireplace that keeps our church heated (:
Additionally, my heart will also feel the loss of the splendid friendships, the children we’ve met, the students from our English Classes who have blessed us – yet I am ever so thankful I have a God of prepositions who is underneath me and amid the changes of countries and continents.
He’s on the move – make way.
Update:
My team and I will be heading to join our squad in Albania on Tuesday. We will be there for the New Year and then heading out early January to Africa. Zambia is our first destination.
Pray for smooth transitions of team changes and continent changes as we prepare for month 5 of the race.
Thanks for all the prayers and support! (:
‘Til Next Time!
