Empathy.
If I had to choose one word that I could most relate to it would be empathy. I was a sophomore in college when my church had a class on spiritual gifts. Never having explored this identity before I was intrigued and wondered what gifts God could have placed in me from the very beginning. What could God have known I could use for Him before anyone else ever knew me? The gift that still stands out to me is empathy.
Empathy is the gift of understanding what others are going through, not sympathetically, empathetically. Having sympathy for someone is feeling sorry for them, while having empathy is feeling the same feelings they are right along side of them. It's a very powerful gift to be blessed with. It's loving someone from the depths of your soul to the depths of theirs without even trying.
God put his love in my heart and I can't wait to leave pieces of my heart all over the world.
Someone once told me that they've never met someone filled with the holy spirit and didn't know it. I want to be filled like that.
