…coming home and laying under the one ceiling fan with my whole team (6 girls). It was a time to cool down and share stories.
…hearing “Auntie ChristiNA” (accent on the last syllable) at least 50 times each time we went to the orphanage.
…singing worship songs in English and in Tamil (a language from India).
…seeing a woman freed from an evil spirit through the power of prayers.
…eating all the Indian, Muslim, Chinese, and Malay food. Staples: Roti and Capati and Curry Puffs!
…getting to eat over half my meals with my hands! When in Rome…
…teaching Sunday school every Friday night (and still calling it “Sunday school”).
…going on prayer walks (which were actually prayer-rides-in-cars) around the different communities. …being a part of a Malaysian family.
…feeling at home every time I walked through the front door of my contact’s house.
…cross-stitching during my free time.
…building a fort of blankets and tables one random afternoon with Sarah.
…working out in the park across the street.
…the time Sarah, Hillary, and I joined a Chinese Zumba class and didn’t have a clue what we were doing. (At least we got in a good ab workout from all the laughing we did.)
…passing out flowers to all of our neighbors as a way to meet them and just say hello.
…the coffee dates I got to have with my teammates.
…the games the kids taught us.
…how we could play games like “duck, duck, goose” and “doggy, doggy, where’s your bone?” for 40 solid minutes each and the kids would never get tired of them. (Me on the other hand…)
…how I got to see God provide $3000 within 2 hours of us asking in prayer.
…how we made such strong friendships, saying goodbye was so hard.
…living, laughing, and loving with Team Ovida!
…sharing and hearing testimonies every week at church.
…getting to preach a sermon for the first time.
…staying up until 1am on several occasions because I live with and travel the world with one of my best friends and every night is a slumber party!
…exploring my creative side via watercolor pencils, praying in colors, etc.
…listening to several sermons on Podcasts.
…waking up in the mornings to do yoga, meditations, and prayers.
…spending an afternoon walking on tops of trees in a rainforest. We got to see monkeys and a bug that looked like a tangled piece of yarn.
…going on a picture scavenger hunt through the streets of Georgetown on Penang island.
…parasailing.
…hanging out with our friend, Danni, that we met last month in Cambodia. She flew all the way to Malaysia just to spend the weekend with us in Penang #truelove #budsforlife
