Dear Family and Friends,

I am sending out this Emergency Alert to inform everyone that a family we befriended during our time in Nicaragua recently lost their house to a fire.  This is the email that was sent to me:

“Yesterday started out the same as any other Sunday, and our
group was about to start a morning Worship when one of the youth kids Ariel
Vega came to tell me his Aunts house had caught on Fire. Jessica Vega’s house was completely charred
by the time we arrived. There has been absolutely no
power and no water in the village for almost 2 weeks, so everyone that lived close to the
Vegas was bringing what little water they had stashed at their houses over to
them as fast as they could to try to stop the fire. The littlest child Alan who is 9 months was
in the house when it was on fire and Marvin Vega got him out just in time! God was watching over their safety for sure,
as no one was harmed. We helped them
take apart their house and get what was left out of it. For a family who already has nothing….it is a
tragedy to lose what little they do have. Their house was about an 18 by 25 foot space. Jessica Vega lived in the house with her 4
kids. Mary-Lacey 9 years old, David 8
years old, Jesbin 5 years old, and Alan 9 months old. 90 percent of their belongings were lost in
the fire including:

  • ·
    Their clothes
  • ·
    A dresser
  • ·
    A Twin size cot
  • ·
    Iron
  • ·
    Radio
  • ·
    Small stereo system
  • ·
    A small TV
  • ·
Their entire Kitchen                                                                                                                                                                             They managed to save one bed that had minimal damage, and
one dresser that was slightly burnt but still usable. The family was weeping as we began to take
off the burnt wood and ruined tin. We
prayed with them for awhile and explained that God has a purpose for
everything, and perhaps this was a blessing in disguise. If we can raise enough money we can build
them a better home out of cement blocks. Their house was falling apart as it was and an accident waiting to
happen, so perhaps this is God’s master plan to help out this wonderful
family. The Vega family are members of
our church and faithfully clean the goat house everyday and sweep out the
church every day. They are a large and
very sweet family always willing to help out with anything we need.

If you would like to be a part of this blessing you can send a check written to New Song Mission Nicaragua to:

During the time we were in Nicaragua, I befriended Jesbin, one of the cutest 5 year olds you’d ever meet.  He especially loves hugs!  He can’t get enough love and he stole my heart.  Please know that this is a real family, with wonderful little ones to take care of.

Please take a moment to pray and ask God if this would be a time to give and help a family in their time of need.  Your generosity would make such a difference and truly display what this life is all about: LOVE. My prayer is that God would provide enough money to rebuild their house with better quality materials than it was done with originally.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this blog!  🙂

With Sincere Appreciation,
Christina
