Today is my birthday! 24 years old. I have a fun filled day planned. I am going to an all you can eat buffet brunch with some of my closest Floridian friends and then heading to the beach for the day. A Florida birthday would not be complete without the three S’s- sun, sand, and salt water!
Yesterday I realized that next year I will not be celebrating my birthday in the states. Instead I will be celebrating Thailand style! (At least I think that’s where we will be in April). I love Thailand and I was so excited when I thought of celebrating over there. Even though it will be hard to not be with my friends and family from home, I know that I will be surrounded by all of my squad mates who will be my new friends and family. I can’t think of a way I would rather spend my birthday than in a foreign country helping others in need. To say I’m excited is an understatement. But that is still a year away. So back to this years birthday.
In honor of turning 24 today, I am making a birthday wish. My wish is to reach at least 40% funded by the end of the month of April. Right now I am at 30%. In order to reach my goal, I only need to raise about $1,740. If each person donates $24 I will be there in no time at all!
So now a wish has been made and 24 candles have been blown out. Please prayerfully consider helping me reach my goal and make this the best birthday yet. By reaching this goal I will be on my way to an even better birthday next year. A birthday that will be spent not eating as much as I can at brunch and not laying out on the beach, but by giving back to the people of Asia and spreading the gospel. Who knows, that may mean working outside and sweating under the hot Thai sun. I couldn’t imagine a better birthday. Because any day spent making others’ lives a little better is a great day in my book.
