I am so blessed by the amount of people that are supporting me. I have sold more tshirts than I anticipated. I have received several donations through my blog by people that I have never met. My family has been incredibly supportive. My mom and dad are doing everything they can to help. My grandparents have also been a HUGE help.

Even with all of this, I still get overwhelmed sometimes by the amount of money that I have to raise. $16,000 is A LOT of money. I worry that I won’t be able to find a way to raise all of it. I worry that I won’t meet the first deadline ($3,500 by training camp in July). I worry that I will launch with the rest of my team and then have to come home early because I didn’t raise all the money. So many things to think about when it comes to fundraising. There are lots of options when it comes to fundraising, but I can’t help thinking that it still won’t be enough.

A few weeks ago, I took a few lessons on fundraising through Adventures in Missions. Along with the first lesson was Bible study. It gave several passages in the Bible that show how important fundraising is. It serves many purposes. Not only do we step outside our comfort zone and put aside our pride to ask for help, we also have to put all of our faith in God. We have to stop trying to do everything our own way and in our own time and make our own plans happen. We need to learn to trust in him and his timing and his plan. Because his plan is always perfect. These are things that we can learn through fundraising. We also give others the chance to help us on our journey. Our friends, family, and even strangers, want to help. One of the lessons says they want to have the chance to support us and are just waiting to be asked.

Fundraising is hard, sometimes discouraging, and often uncomfortable. But is is important. Through fundraising so many people world wide will benefit. Through fundraising my teammates and I will be able to travel around this world lending a helping hand.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

Philippians 4:6

This was a verse that popped up in the Bible study. I was familiar with it before, but since I have started down the road of striving to meet my $16,000 goal, I have come across it often. I see this everywhere now. It’s like God is constantly reminding me not to worry about the money. He will provide. I just need to learn to trust in that.

If you feel like God is calling you to help me through this journey, please click on the Support Me link at the top of my blog. Every single penny gets me closer to the end goal. It may be expensive for me to go, but it will be priceless to the lives we will touch.
