And on this special weekend… meet Roseanne!

Roseanne is 13 years old and is also one of the older girls that I disciple at the home. She is currently in fourth grade at our community school, and is a really great student. She always does her work well and is one of the leaders in her class, always helping the teacher if needed.

Roseanne is a little hard to figure out; even for me, who spends a considerable amount of time with her. She does a good job of keeping people at a distance, until she truly believes that you have her best interest at heart, and that you actually care… and once you have broken through that barrier, Roseanne becomes a completely different person, opening up and letting you into her life.

Roseanne is also very good with the younger kids. She helps out with Moses and Angel during meal times, church, group outings, and just around the home in general. She tends to be just as helpful with the houseparents, volunteers, and staff. You may get a loud sigh, shoulder shrug, or “why me” look, but she will always do what she is asked!

One of my favorite things to brag about Roseanne is her musical talent. Roseanne is very musically gifted! She didn’t receive formal instruction on how to play guitar; instead, she listened to someone else play and then repeated what they did– a concept that sounds absolutely ridiculous/bizarre to me! She pretty much taught herself how to play guitar! And now she leads worship for devotion time several nights a week. Wow! That is a God given gift if I ever saw one!

Roseanne and her two younger brothers (Fritz and Florence) just spent a month in California last November. They went as part of a “camp” where they lived with a family and saw a completely new and different culture. What a great experience for her!

Please be praying for Roseanne this week. Pray for her schoolwork (Struggling with math), pray for her development into a young adult, pray for her friends she spends time with, pray for her healing from wounds from the past, and as always, the most important part of her life: pray that she will know Christ in a personal way and grow in her faith daily.
