I know what you’re thinking… Heartlyn has already been the kid of the week! And you’re right… for the most part. Heartlyn was the first kid I chose at the children’s home when I started this whole “kid of the week” thing. So in a way, I think she didn’t get the full experience. In fact, all she had was a couple of measly pictures. No video at all! So I decided it was only right that she get another go at it, this time with a video so that everyone can truly see who Heartlyn is! So here is a video of our precious Heartlyn, our youngest at the home, who is currently about 13 months old. Hope you enjoy!
Heartlyn came to the home in early October of last year, at only 2
months old. Like many of the children who come to our home, the
beginning of her life faced many physical challenges and many nights in
the hospital. In her first month of stay at KIM, she was in the
hospital for a long list of illnesses, including double pneumonia.
Several short term missionaries stayed the night with her and prayed
all night for her health. By the grace of God, he healed her
completely! Now, 11 months later, this little girl has grown so much!
She has regained a normal, darker skin color along with proper
nutrition, and is getting so big! Heartlyn is known for her full head
of hair and strange growling noises that she often makes.
Although the youngest at the home, Heartlyn doesn’t let anyone bully her around! Now that she is a full-fledged walker, and growing bigger and bigger every day, she is starting to learn how to stand up for herself as well! It is amazing to see how much Heartlyn is growing daily and becoming more independent… she is beginning to feed herself, play around outside by herself, and is very close to talking as well!
Heartlyn is also in the final stages of adoption, and will officially be our second adoption at NFFCH. Our social workers and director have met with the International Adoption Agency of the Philippines and have matched this beautiful young girl to an international family. It is only a matter of time and paperwork before she has a family to call her own. What a beautiful and amazing thing! It is an answer to prayer that she will be blessed with a mother and a father who love her! Please keep her in your prayers as she goes through the final stages and will be with her new family within the next 3-6 months.
