This week, I have the pleasure of introducing you to Angelica!
Angelica is a sweetheart! Much like Armie, Angelica is also 10 years old going on 30! Angelica would much rather spend her free time hanging out with the adults than with kids her own age. Although she only just turned 10 last week, Angelica is often included amongst the “big girls” group of 11-13 year olds because most of the time, she is actually more mature than them!
Based off of what I know now, If I had to choose Angelica’s future profession, I would say she should be a Hollywood personal assistant…. the person who is in the background but really is the one getting everything done… that’s Angelica! She is always willing to help out, no matter how big, small, pleasant, or unpleasant the task. In a word, Angelica is very obedient. She rarely ever complains, she just smiles and does whatever is asked of her. And the kicker is, she find enjoyment in being obedient! She loves to serve, and she loves to make people happy in the process.
So although we’re not quite in Hollywood, Angelica has still found her niche as assistant to Marilyn, nurse and one of our guardians of the children’s home. Most days when I am up at the home, I see Angelica sticking close to Marilyn, helping her in any way that she can, often reminding her “don’t forget your phone,” “here’s your glasses,” “we need to leave in 10 minutes” etc etc etc…. She is definitely one of the best helpers in the home and the school, and being in her company always brings joy into my day!
As you think about and pray for Angelica this week, as requested, pray that she would progress in her reading abilities. Pray for her time at school, that she would soak everything in and be consistently growing in her academic knowledge. As always, I ask that you also pray for her future, and any possibility of being adopted into a family one day, or if not, that she would know without a doubt how absolutely loved and cared about she is here at the children’s home.
And while you’re at it, maybe we should throw a prayer up for the rest of us, that we would learn from the child-like faith and servant’s heart that Angelica so gracefully demonstrates each and every day. Thanks for the great example Angelica!
