I’m back! You probably have already realized this by the
swarm of September Squad blogs, but now is my turn to say it.
So there is obviously no way to sum up the last three weeks
in one blog. We’ve been to so many places and met so many people over the last
twenty-one days, and I can’t wait to share those experiences with you… but
unfortunately, I will have to wait, for several different reasons.
First of
all, we are only in Hong Kong for about twenty-four
hours, which means that we are
each limited to one hour of computer use.
Second, I
spent the first fourteen hours of being here sleeping (having the flu on a commuter train in China is NOT FUN),
so the remaining ten will mostly consist of packing,
laundry, sending a box home, and other last-minute errands.
Third, I
have to spend some time writing the blogs before I can post them. My goal is to
get two or three done today
before we fly out at midnight—which I
will be able to post since we will have
FREE wifi at the airport! Pretty amazing.
So just to let you in on our plans
for the next couple days… we fly out at midnight
to Johannesburg, South
Africa. We don’t have a direct flight, which
is actually pretty amazing, because our layover is in the Middle
East!! We’re hoping and praying that we have time to leave the
airport and see a few things. We get into J-burg after about 26 hours, where we
will be there for one night, and then head on over to Swaziland.
Once there, we will have a week of orientation on Africa
from Gary Black—who I’ve heard is amazing.
After that, who knows! I’m not
exactly sure how internet will work in Africa, but I’m
fairly positive that it won’t be as fast or as readily available as it has been
in Asia. I will do my best to keep in contact and keep
everyone posted on what’s happening.
