Sah-wat-di-ca! That’s Thai for hello, but I’m not exactly sure how to spell it, and this way you
know how to pronounce it. Maybe if Noiy or Bronwyn are reading this right now
they can leave a little comment here at the bottom saying how to spell it
(hint, hint). Anyways, we are pretty much wrapping our time up here in Thailand,
and I decided that at the minimum I would post monthly updates about my support
status, so here is month one.
The amount of money currently in my account is $6,774, which is just over half the
total amount needed. After adding up all the monthly donations that people have
signed up for, but have not yet been deposited into my account, there is
another $3,365 that will be coming
in monthly over the course of the year. Adding up these two amounts brings the
total to $10,139. This means that in
order to finish the whole eleven months I need to raise another $2,861.
If anyone would like more information as to how this money
is being spent, and how it breaks down into the different categories, please
email me and I would love to explain it in further detail. Overall, this amount
covers the basic day to day expenses over the course of the year. This amount
does not
include travel to and from the race start and finish, equipment/gear needed
such as tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, and traveling backpack,
immunizations, malaria medication, international medical insurance, and any
“necessary” snacks/treats along the way J. After adding up what
all these extras will cost, the overall expense of the World Race is somewhere
around $16,000. Any extra money raised will go towards reimbursing me for these
extra purchases.
In the past month, since starting the race, another $320
dollars has come in as an anonymous donation. Thank you to whomever you are!
Raising support is a difficult process, but God has proven trustworthy in this
area to me time and time again. He will provide this amount, I am
confident of that. So thank you to all my financial supporters who are giving of
themselves for such a unique and amazing cause. Thank you for partnering with
me in this journey and for enabling me to be here and to make disciples of the
nations. Most days I still can’t believe I’m here. I am blessed and honored to
be a part of something so wonderful; to be chosen by God to be here right at
this exact moment.
Even though I have come so far already in this process, I am
not quite there yet. At the minimum I have another $2,861 left to raise. As I have
asked in the past, I ask again that you prayerfully consider supporting me in
this endeavor. All donations are extremely important in getting me to the full
amount, and hopefully, above and beyond that, so I can cover some of the
personal expenses required to get here as well. There is no such thing as a
small or insignificant donation.
I would also like to thank my prayer supporters who have
been loyally praying for me and my team since I have left home. It means so
much to have a team of prayer warriors back at home, daily coming to the Lord
on my behalf. God has already answered so many prayers, proving his
faithfulness to us day after day.
I would also like to apologize for my lack of communication
throughout this month. Things have been really busy, and whenever we did have
free time, it was hard to get motivated to accomplish things on my to do list. Hopefully I will have some
time in the next couple days, as we transition to our next location, to email
specific people and catch up on things. Also, feel free to email me at my personal
email [email protected] and keep me
updated on happenings at home. It always makes me smile to hear what’s going on
in my friends and family’s lives—and it also is easier for me to reply to an
email than to think of who I wanted to email in the first place!
To each person who has supported me thus far on my journey,
whether that be financially, in prayer, or even verbally, I just want you to
know how much it means to me and to know that it has not gone unnoticed. I pray
that God will bless you for being such a blessing to me.
In Him,
Christie
