For me, Mothers day has always been a day to reflect on important relationships in my life, especially the one with my mother. My mom is a deeply sentimental woman who has always appreciated a letter from my brother and I above any physical gift on this day, so it is with great joy and pride that I share just a snapshot of the million ways my mother has prepared me and lead me to where I am today.

Mom, thank you for making me the center of the last 22 years of your life. Thank you for pouring every ounce of your heart and soul into me. Thank you for handling the growing pains, the rebellion, the joy, the pain, the love, the confusion, the anxiety, the decisions, and the late nights with the grace you’ve embodied since day one. Thank you for growing with me. Thank you for understanding that there were some thing’s you couldn’t do for me, and letting me figure out, fail, test, succeed, and fail again on my own.

Above everything else, thank you for showing me the love of our creator. Thank you for the late night bible studies growing up, the mornings watch Joyce Meyers, the afternoons talking about heaven, the bedtime prayers, the endless answers to unanswerable questions, and the faith you’ve had in God that his plans for Tyler and I are far greater than you could have ever imagined. Thank you for the love and support you pour out everyday as I prepare for the World Race. Thank you for accepting the fact that next year on Mothers day I will be facetiming you from South Africa.

Lord, thank you for blessing me with one of the strongest and most faithful mothers a son could ask for. Thank you for taking hold of her heart at 22, and thank you for placing the call on her heart to raise us the way she has. Thank you for putting her through the trials and struggles you have. Thank you for giving her the amazing husband that is my dad. Thank you for drawing our family closer to you and each other day by day.

Happy Mothers day Mom!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
