By tomorrow afternoon, in the span of one week, we will have been in Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania. Only on the World Race can you find yourself in three countries in a week…
After finishing up a fruitful month in Soroti, Uganda, we headed to Jinja for a few days to meet up with the rest of our squad and raft on the Nile River before heading to Nairobi for debrief. It’s been a pretty intense week, as major changes in teams have been made. Allison, our squad leader, will only be with us until the end of Tanzania, so Kelly (my leader from Quake) and Kyla were both asked to move up to squad leader positions when Allison is gone. This created four new leaders: Braedon, Ben, Melissa, and Laura so every single team was changed (quite drastically for most). So after a good run of four months, Team Quake is sadly no longer. While I will miss my Quake members dearly, I definitely feel that this is exactly what God has for all of us at this time. We can take things we learned from our old teams, such as how to love genuinely and live in community, and be able to jump right into that with our new teams. So on that note, I am pleased to announce my new team…. Team Lunchbox, led by the wonderful Lindsay Heston. I am extremely excited to be under her leadership and the anointing that God has placed on her life. I have seen the way she seeks the Lord, both personally and on behalf of her team, and cannot wait to be challenged and encouraged by her in this new season. The other members of Team Lunchbox include: Tangi Holmes, Brandon Clayton, Dan VanderWol, Brenda Wilchowy, and Sara Choe so feel free to check out their blogs as well (I’m not the greatest at posting blogs in a timely manner so hopefully they will be). I will try to post links to their blogs on the side as well, but no promises as I am not good with stuff like that. In case it’s not obvious, we chose Team Lunchbox because we carry the Bread of Life with us wherever we go and we’ll be feeding the nations, both tangibly and spiritually. And don’t worry, we all got plastic lunchboxes with cartoon characters on them to carry with us wherever we go so we look pretty special…
Please pray for our new teams… that love and trust would be established immediately and that we would be able to give each other authority to challenge and encourage us. Pray also for our first month of ministry together as we head into Tanzania (on a very long bus ride for our team).
I really appreciate those of you who read this faithfully and pray for me- know that you are in mine as well!
Much love!
