This is what my life has been since leaving Vietnam month 8
August 28: Flew to Malaysia. Stayed one night in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
August 29: Bus and ferry ride to Pangkor Island, Malaysia for Month 8 debrief
August 29 – September 2: Pangkor Island debrief with the whole squad.
– rested
-reflected on the last months as a team
– relaxed at the beach with pool floaties with Cici
September 2: Taxi, ferry, and bus ride back to Kuala Lumpur with 10 of my squadmates.
Stayed the night.
September 3: Flew to Chiangmai, Thailand for the Parent Vision Trip
September 3 – 9: Parent Vision Trip with my dad
-went to the Red Light District to create relationships (prostitute area)
– Played with orphans
– Painted a room
– Went to a local fruit market
– Talked with monks at a Buddhist temple
– Rode an elephant
– Worshiped together
– had great conversations
September 6 – 9: Saw Jan (boyfriend) in Chiangmai
– had dinner with him and my dad
– went to the Sunday night market with him and my dad
– had dinner alone our last night
September 10: Flew from Chiangmai to Kuala Lumpur. Stayed over night.
September 11: 7 hour bus ride to Changlung, Malaysia
September 11 – 26: Ministry in Changlung, Malaysia
– worked at a preschool/daycare facility helping in the four year old room
Sunday through Thursday mornings
– Preschool/Kindergarten: Opened in January, English speaking school, children
of all different ethnicities & languages
– walked 15 minutes to town for internet in the afternoons
– team times/Wednesday night market in evenings
September 13 – 14: Took a ferry to Langkawi Island, Malaysia
– went to the beach
– met a new friend from Germany
– went Island hopping on a speed boat and saw
: an eagle feeding
: monkeys
: a lake on an island
: beautiful beaches
September 21: Explored a cave with our ministry contact (and a guide)
– saw a bunch of bats
– walked through a river in the cave
– saw the graveyard for the miners who died in the mine
September 27: 7 hour bus ride to Kuala Lumpur
September 27 – 29 Squad retreat in Kuala Lumpur
September 30: Leave for Eastern Europe for month 10! Plane ride to Istanbul, Turkey, another plane ride to Bucharest, Romania and then a bus ride to Moldova.
So there you go! I hope that gives you some insight into where I have been and what I have been doing. Forgive me for not telling you sooner. Things have been a little busy 🙂
