Mothers and Daughters: Happy Mother's Day
When we walked an hour to get there. We walked through sandy plains and walked through a river. We walked through some tall bamboo trees. We passed water buffalos, goats and chickens. We walked up to this two-story where we were going to be doing our first house fellowship.
We were immediately greeted by a beautiful woman in a gorgeous, green sari with the Christian greeting "Jamisie" and was lead upstairs. We walked up an outside, steep, wooden staircase to the second floor and sat outside on the open patio. We felt like we were in a tree house.
We sat and talked with our pastor as we waited for the other people to come. As others were joining us, I was being careful to not get hit by the pigeons flying back and forth behind me going to and from the two pigeon nests.
Four believers and their children came after some time. One woman who was the second Christian (after the pastor) in the village came to be with us. (can you even imagine being the second Christian in a small village?). We sang Nepali and English songs. We encouraged one another. We were given fresh mango, black tea and tortilla-like bread.
At the end of our time an 18 year old woman and her 2 year old child came for prayer. As I was looking at this woman, I was hit by thinking of how important it is for a mother to be praying for her children. I saw a vision of this woman, her child and other women and their children in a class I was leading about praying for your children. As I looked more at the vision and talked to God, I saw women going to these classes with their children through elementary school where moms were learning how to pray for their children and children were learning how to pray for their parents. I was able to pray for them and then we left.
But that vision REALLY struck me. God showed me a few months ago that my calling was working with young adult women and relationships. I had no idea that children was a part of it, but after being so connected with Moses last month it made sense.
I realize I have a passion for mother's and their children to be praying for one another and teaching each other. I want to start practicing this as I see children that I am working with. I want to pray for them and if they are able, I want them to pray for me. I think it is SOO incredibly important for parents to be able to learn from children and be willing to get prayer and instruction from them as well. There is so much we all can learn from one another.
I am excited to continue seeking this vision and seeing what God has for me in the future with this. In light of all of this, I just want to say.
Happy Mother's Day, Mom!
I am praying for you!!!!!
