Nightmares Brought to Light – Feb. 22

Recently, I have been having a recurring anxiety driven dream in the past 3 or 4 weeks. It has to do with my boyfriend Jan and it is filled with fear. This dream happened a couple days ago and I was confused the next morning if it was something that came from God or came from he enemy.

As I was journaling, God reminded me that He is not a God of fear, but He is a God of love. That His perfect love casts out all fear and that He does not ignite fear in us. With that in mind, I prayed in Jesus' name against the dream and had my teammates pray for my next night's sleep. I had pleasant dreams the following night.

Today we went to the Hope House and we were visiting with a very religious woman who can speak English well. She enjoys having us read scriptures to her. Today she suggested we read psalm 91 to her, one of which I was not familiar.

I started reading it to her and a few verses really stuck out to me. Verse 5 says "You will not fear the terror of night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness nor the plague that destroys at midday". God reminded me of my dreams during that moment and how I wasn't supposed to live in fear.

Then we went to visit another patient and we read this psalm to him as well. As I was reading it to him, God told me to ask this man about his dreams. After I read it, I asked him if he had any bad dreams. He described a nightmare that he has and how it effects his sleep. I encouraged him to pray and I shared my nightmare experiences with him. At the end of our time there, this man told me "God Bless" which was the first time he said that to me.

After visiting this man, we visited one last girl and we read that same psalm to her. I asked her about her dreams too and she also said she has bad dreams. I was able to encourage her and pray for her as well.

What blows my mind is that God used this first woman and my dream experiences to encourage these other two patients. Satan thought he was trying to destroy relationships and sleep, but God still proved His power by using something bad and turning it into good. This is the God I serve every day and I wouldn't want it any other way.
