I have a habit of making lists.  Pro/con, grocery, packing, you name it I've made a list for it.  When it came time for me to make my decision about the World Race, I was led once again to my paper and pen.

10 Reasons Why I Should NOT Go on the World Race

  1. I have zero international travel experience
  2. Public speaking was my most feared and stressful college course
  3. I’ve never slept in a tent for more than one night at a time
  4. College was the farthest I’ve ever lived from home…a whopping 2.5 hours
  5. Chick Fil A might get worried that something bad has happened to its most faithful customer
  6. I have a weekly TV lineup that I rarely miss
  7. My roommates might forget to pay the bills without my dry erase board reminders
  8. I’ve never shared my faith with a non-believer
  9. I live in Charleston, SC…beautiful beaches, great shopping, award-winning food, and music/arts events galore
  10. I cringe at the thought of asking people for money

10 Reasons Why I Should Go on the World Race:
       1-10.  SAME AS ABOVE

The Lord did not put this adventure on my heart accidentally.  He knows that the only way to truly break me of my fears, bad habits and creature comforts is to completely take me out of my comfort zone and put me in situations where my only option is to rely on Him.  I’m not saying it’s going to be easy.  I have no doubt that there will be tears, heartache, frustration and helplessness, but I also expect to leave this race with a full-heart, a new family and a small taste of what God can do.

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.'  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong."     -2 Corinthians 12:9-10
