We have been in Guatemala for about four days now and I am at awe of how the Lord has provided for us in this place. In Mexico we had a pastor give over the keys to his church and completely bless us in every way. It’s crazy to think that someone we don’t even know could just trust us with his church. As we got on the road at midnight, I remember being excited to see how the Lord was going provide in Guatemala. As we entered the city after 13 hours of travel, going through a sketch boarder crossing and listening to Phil Collins in the van more times than I would have liked, we began our search for provision. It’s amazing when you put full trust in the Lord for things such as where to lie your head down at night.

We had heard many things about the scenic cross hike that overlooked the city of Antigua. That morning we made plans to wake up and devote our time fully to the Lord to provide a place for the World Racers. Finding a place for 52 people to sleep ten hours before the Racers get to town can be a little stressful, but honestly the Lord gave us complete peace on his provision. After hiking to the cross and seeing probably one of the most beautiful scenic overlooks of a city ever, we made our way to a church we had heard about earlier. As we entered the church I felt immediate peace and confidence that the Lord had everything under control and that this is where the Racers where going to stay. Let me tell ya, there is no way to ease into a conversation with a pastor asking “Hey good sermon uhhhh… could 52 people sleep in your church for three days?” As we introduced ourselves to pastor David, I remember thinking that the previous day we were dropped off and had no idea what we were going to do. Now once again we were given keys to a church by a man who had no idea who we were. Talk about the Lord providing again.

When we were up at the cross earlier that morning, my teammate Chris shared how the Lord had been talking to him about believing in our prayers before we pray. He shared the story of when Jesus had told his disciples to go to a specific house for the Passover feast and tell the owner that he wanted to celebrate there with his disciples. I thought of this later and It’s amazing what prayer can do. It’s amazing what happens when you put dependence upon the Lord to provide and to be your provider. This is just the beginning. I’m ready to depend more upon the Lord and see more doors open.
