Here are several of the testimonies I collected during my
adventures in the countryside of Cambodia. They are written testimonies that
have been filter through a translator. Please, do your best to grasp the bigger
picture of the lives of each of these men. I hope you enjoy. All of these men are
humble servants of Christ. They overcome persecution from the 98% of Cambodian’s
who practice Buddhism. Satan isn’t happy how God has drastically changed these
men for His glory. Praise the Lord, because He is still ALIVE and He is still
transforming the lives of men all over the globe.
Pastor Cheouy Meth moved to Ta Nop from Battambang. He came
empty handed to live with his brother for a short while. He was very depressed
and hopeless. He heard the gospel and began going to church with the hope to get
a job to make money. He was looking for the benefits of Jesus Christ. He
assumed he could rely on the church for benefits and provision. The pastor of
Samrong Yong began to teach him the Bible which opened his heart to God’s
power. The more understanding the more he yearned. God burned his heart. He
began to evangelize. He could not stay still; he had to tell others about the
living God. He now had purpose for his life. Ten years ago before he met
Christ, he and his wife got a divorce. He currently lives with one of his sons,
as well as, many other family members. He regrets the divorce. He prays
continually for reconciliation with his wife to restart their family. His wife
does not know Jesus Christ YET. He believes God will one day reunite them. His
wife leaves nearby with his other two children who he does get to spend time
with. He thanks the Lord for His provision of food, shelter, and the church. He
hungers for the salvation of those in the community.
Pastor Teau Chamroeun started the church in Seiha through
the direction of Tong Keh in 2004. He is 45 years old. He and his wife have two
sons and two daughters. Chamroeun was once the community advisor of his
village. He realized he could no longer work with the corrupt government. He
had worked for the government for 10 years, and after retiring his livelihood
was getting worse. His uncle told him about Christ, and the Lord had done a
miracle by healing his wife from throat inflammation that nearly killed her.
After this Chamroeun sacrificed whatever necessary to learn more about Christ.
He began visiting Tong Keh New Life Church were he devoted himself in a variety
of ministries. God rocked him. He knew that God was calling him to be a pastor.
God led him to evangelize and gave him the gift of healing through the power of
the Holy Spirit. He witnessed many healings and miracles. The lame were made to
walk even after 10 years of being bedridden. Pastor Chamroeun is obviously full
of God’s grace. Love, hope, and faith are strong characteristics of him.
His
family moved to current location with only $200 to their name. They were able
to buy the land with loans from extended family. Chamroeun and his son repair
moto’s and bikes for more income to take care of the family. The Lord has taken
care of their debt. He has been the source of all their strength. The church
has a new building under construction. Jesus has been the answer to every
problem that has arose. Pastor Chamroeun believes God will bless both the
church and the community. He wants to plant one new church a year in nearby
villages. The harvest is plentiful!
Sdop Prey is lead by Pastor Heng Socheat. Just a few years
ago, he was very sick, and the doctor did not think he could help. The doctor
said he would die because of the tumor in his kidney. During this dramatic life
situation, Socheat heard the Good News. He trusted no one; he was hopeless. He
would rather die than be a burden on his family. But he wanted anything that
would help. This began to birth hope in his heart for God. He began to pray for
guidance about his sickness. He prayed
for God to touch and remove the tumor on his kidney that he had had for over 3
years. The doctor decided to try surgery thinking it would be unsuccessful.
When the doctor looked inside, the tumor was nowhere to be found. The Lord had
healed him. The doctor also told Socheat that he would never be able to have
children with his wife. But now he and his wife have 3 beautiful healthy
children. “God has blessed me more than I ever could even ask.”
