My family loved me well but you couldn't tell from the outside that they were followers of Christ. I didn't know who Jesus was or what He was all about until 7th grade when I joined a Christian dance team. Although I had heard His name and knew a little about what He had done for me, I still didn't fully understand. I still do not fully understand. March 28, 2004 is when i was born again.
From that point on, I knew God and I knew that He had died for me but high school was a constant rollarcoaster with my faith. Although I had been reborn I didn't understand what it looked like to follow God and live for Him alone. At the end of my high school career I got involved in some bad things but not for long because after a few months I went off to college and God showed that He had a whole new plan for me.
A couple weeks into my freshman year (at OCC, but most of my time was spent at the University of Oklahoma) I was attending an event, Paradigm, that was put on by the BSU. That is where I figured out that I wasn't truly living for God and that it wasn't about how the people around me were living, it was about my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. After realizing this, I recommitted my life to Christ. I prayed that my life would change and that I wouldn't stay in the same place that I had been or become involved in the same things and that my life would change completely for God. I wanted Galatians 2:20 to become who I am and to live it out. I did just that. God has showed up in my life in so many different ways since that point in my life. I immediately got myself out of a lot of sin and into the Word (btw this is 2009).
Over the course of the next 2 1/2 years, God laid it on my heart to make disciples, to invest in people and to love on them. I went to a lot of different conferences and Christian events. The one that stuck out the most to me was the Passion conference (this was April 2011). Love, love, love, love, love. This is what God taught me, true love!! There is nothing that I can do to lose that, there is a God who loves me and wants to know everything about me, He wants to have a personal relationship with me! He loves me, US!
The God who has created everything we have ever seen or will see! He is in the smallest and biggest things! I want to go on this trip because of my relationship with God, because I am in love with Him and He tells us to be doers of His word not just hearers! In Phil 1:21, Paul says to live is Christ and to die is gain! That is my life verse BECAUSE for me to live IS Christ and to die IS gain! As long as I live as long as I am ALIVE, I want share God’s love with His people, share His truth, to share what brings people LIFE, what brought me life.
I want to bring light to all the dark places in this world! Matthew 28 tells us to go to the Nations, so that is what I want to do. I am in Love with God, and I want it to show it in my actions and to His world hopefully, God willing people will come closer to Him! We are not promised tomorrow (James 4:13-17) or the next few minutes, so I want to, I need to act as soon as possible! January is alot closer than five years from now or when I finish college!
We always talk about how we need to do something now, I am doing it! I am in love with God and My Lord Jesus Christ therefore I am in love with his people and it’s about time I show that! God is going to show up in this trip, because He is what’s working on these people before I even thought about going, I’m so excited to take part in his work!
