What will you be doing in Serbia?
As of now, because my route is subject to change, Serbia is my first stop on the World Race. While on the race, I will serve in the communities of 11 different countries. I will stay in each country for 1 month. Ministry each month could be totally different in each country. To gain an idea of what I will be doing in Serbia, I have read blogs from previous racers who stopped in Serbia. This blog will be all about what ministry could look like in Serbia and will contain a few facts about the country.
Previous racers have stopped in Lebane, Serbia. This city seems to be most remembered for its hospitality. While in Lebane, racers worked with a local church. Per the blogs I have read, ministry that month was simply assisting the church in any way needed.
Other racers served in Navi Sad, Serbia. While in Navi Sad, racers served and ministered to men in a local the drug rehabilitation center. In addition, while in Serbia, racers have taught English, built relationships and volunteered in local communities, assisted and served during refugee crises, served at local camps, and more.
What do you know about Serbia?
Serbia
Formerly part of Communist Yugoslavia, Serbia’s people have a story to tell. The Balkan Peninsula has a long history of ethnic tension, as reorganized borders don’t always match the people living within the nation. While many ethnic Serbs live in Albania, Montenegro, and other nearby countries, many of within Serbia’s borders claim another country as home. Great social injustices on both sides have led to organized crime and human trafficking. Those living in the Balkan Peninsula are hungry for hope and restoration. Will you help them experience the healing power of God’s love?
