Faith.

I had this idea that all of the spiritual growing and stretching would take place most on the “mission field”. Contrary to what I thought, in a few short months I’ve grown in ways that I didn’t even know I needed to grow. During this “pre-world race” journey, God is teaching me so many things. One major lesson that I am learning is faith.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. -Hebrew 11:1

It’s crazy how this verse that I’ve known for years now means something totally different to me. Regarding the world race and where I am on this journey, faith is trusting that I will be able to fund this trip. Faith is believing that God placed this desire on my heart to go and that He will provide so that I can go. Faith is a hard lesson, and fundraising by faith is even harder.

If I can be honest, the more I think about it, I have never really totally relied on God the way I have to rely on him now. While yes, I have faith in God as in believing in his existence. Sure, I believed that He was and is always protecting and comforting me. However, I cannot recall a major time where I relied on Him alone to financially provide.

I have amazing parents. So anytime I have needed anything my parents were who I called. Of course I credit God for them being able to provide for me and back me up when I need it, but the faith I’m learning now is different. Although it sometimes feels weird and uncomfortable (as most growth does), I am grateful that God is using this time to grow my faith. I can honestly say that I have faith that He will provide and guide me toward His plan, and I trust that He will do so in His perfect timing.

What’s next?

My first deadline of $5,000 is days away, and I am VERY far away from meeting the deadline. If I do not meet the deadline, I will move to a route that leaves in August 2017. From my brief fundraising experience, I have not only learned faith, but I have learned that I need to be more proactive and practice BOLDNESS.

I have faith that God will help me to overcome my timid nature, and that He will also help me to work harder for what I desire. I can say that I know that I am gaining perseverance. Usually, when something is hard or seems too tough for me to handle, I quit. Although this pre-world race journey is harder than expected, I will not quit!
